GO SEE: Marek Bennett

Posted by Daniel Barlow on Monday, February 16, 2009, In : Events

Marek Bennett is a cartoonist, teacher, musician and also a friend of mine. His enthusiasm for comics rivals only Luke's dedication to the Force. Really.

Earlier this year, Marek released his first book collecting his comics - HOUR 72!, a collection of three of his 24-hour comics. I was present for the creation of the cover story - "Cuppy and the Gang ... go on a date!" - and that experience (my first and last - for now - 24-hour comic) is also the conception of the Trees & Hills comics group...

I SAW YOU reviewed in the New York Times

Posted by Daniel Barlow on Thursday, February 12, 2009, In : news

The comic anthology, "I Saw You" has been reviewed by the New York Times.

And editor Julia Wertz will be on National Public Radio sometime Friday talking about it.

I'm STILL waiting to see a copy of this book ... but, yes, I'm in there with a wonderful story of a Burlington romance from the mid-1980s. It's illustrated by the amazing talent that is Megan Baehr.

Summer 2009: Best of Trees & Hills collection

Posted by Daniel Barlow on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, In : news
Democracy has come to the Trees & Hills comics group.

Sort of.

This summer, Trees & Hills comics will print a best-of book. It will collect loved comics from the group's first four anthologies - Trees & Hills & Friends, Field Guide, New Stars and Swingin' Hits - along with a few brand new pieces to round out the collection. If you appeared in one of our first four comics, we'll probably ask you soon if we can reprint one or more of those comics.

Here's where everyone else comes in (although cont...

SEEDS all gone (really this time!)

Posted by Daniel Barlow on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, In : news

Microcosm Publishing has also sold out of SEEDS - the Trees & Hills comics anthology about food - and asked to reup their order. The original run sold out just shy of three months after we printed them. Microcosm had the last few dozen.

We're all out, but I think we're reprinting later this month or early March, just in time for the spring con shows. Don't miss it this time!

I SAW YOU comics collection released this week!

Posted by Daniel Barlow on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, In : news

I SAW YOU: Missed Connections Comics is released today by Random House and I'm in it!

I still haven't seen a copy (Hello Random House? A little help here?), but included in this nearly 200-page collection of comics inspired by missed connection ads is "Love, Rod" a four-page comic that I wrote and Megan Baehr drew. I really like the comic ... it may still be my favorite that I've worked on.

The book can be purchased here or ordered through your local bookstore. It also includes comics by J...
