Posted by Daniel Barlow on Tuesday, April 20, 2010,

Trees & Hills comics released our seventh anthology this spring.

PLAY features 64 pages of comics from nearly 20 creators living in VT, NH and western MA. The stories are all themed around the imagination, fantasy, make-believe and the importance of, well, just playing around!

The comic sells for $5 and features a 5-page story called "We're All Still Here" that I wrote and Matthew Reidsma illustrated.

The lost SHELTER comic

Posted by Daniel Barlow on Friday, October 23, 2009, In : news
Free comic! Tim Hulsizer and I worked on a story called HOME this year for the Trees & Hills anthology, SHELTER. Do to some time constraints, the story wasn't finished in time (Colin Tedford stepped in and illustrated the script in a marathan all-night session three days before the comic came out and I'm forever grateful to him for it. Buy the comic and check it out).

Well, Tim has posted the entire five-page comic - his version. Beautiful work and I'm glad it's finally out there.

It's a little...

Trees & Hills comics in Boston

Posted by Daniel Barlow on Monday, April 20, 2009, In : Events

I had a blast earlier this month at the Boston Comic Con. Trees & Hills comics didn't have a new book of its own to sell, but we did have popular new releases by Marek Bennett, Cat Garza and Colleen Frakes. SEEDS, our 2008 anthology of comics about food, was also a hit and this show was the official debut of our second printing.

There were also superheroes there!

50 more photographs of the Boston Comic Con 2009 can be found here at my Facebook page.

Webcomics Weekend 2009

Posted by Daniel Barlow on Sunday, March 22, 2009, In : Events

50 more photos over at my Facebook page.

Cat Garza, Megan Baehr, Colin Tedford and I dashed down to Easthampton, Mass. Saturday morning for the first annual Webcomics Weekend.

Despite some predictions of doom (will they let us in?), everything seemed to work out fine. We saw lots of old friends and met some new ones. Hopefully, by next year this event will blossom into a real Web comics convention and summit ... Trees & Hills would have loved to get a table to sell our comics, but only a sel...

This new edition of the 2008 anthology contains more than 50 pages of comics, a recipe book of cartoonists' food favorites and a packet of organic seeds from a Vermont farm. It's actually pretty much like the first edition - but that one sold out months ago!

Summer 2009: Best of Trees & Hills collection

Posted by Daniel Barlow on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, In : news
Democracy has come to the Trees & Hills comics group.

Sort of.

This summer, Trees & Hills comics will print a best-of book. It will collect loved comics from the group's first four anthologies - Trees & Hills & Friends, Field Guide, New Stars and Swingin' Hits - along with a few brand new pieces to round out the collection. If you appeared in one of our first four comics, we'll probably ask you soon if we can reprint one or more of those comics.

Here's where everyone else comes in (although cont...
